Transportation Planner Argues Against One Way Avenues

According to Streetsblog, there was a transportation planner (also a Park Slope resident) in attendance at last week’s community board meeting who had a statement ready to read, but never had a chance to share it. If given the chance, he would have argued against converting 6th and 7th Avenues to one way streets and offered some good research to back his argument up. Streetsblog has the statement in it’s post and it basically says that one-way streets cause more accidents involving pedestrians, especially children. Of course, this goes totally against the stated reason by the Department of Transportation for the proposed change, but that’s really no surprise. Definitely worth the read.
