Wasted Money In Brooklyn

I’ve been following the problems in Brooklyn’s 40th District since the special election there a few weeks back with awe at how ridiculous the situation has become. A quick summary of the problems as I understand them:

  • Does Matthieu Eugene even reside in the district he was elected to represent? Or did he when he was supposed to? When was he supposed to?
  • Why won’t he provide the proof of residence he claims to have?
  • Is “Dr.” Matthieu Eugene even a licensed doctor? Not that this has any actual bearing on anything election-related, but if he’s been falsely claiming to be a doctor, that doesn’t exactly lend any weight to his credibility on other matters.
  • But perhaps worst of all is that when all is said and done, three elections will have been paid for to figure out who will serve out Yvette Clark’s four year term. Three elections in a eight or nine period for one seat just seems silly.
