Punk: Attitude

Directed by Don Letts

David Johansen: You know, rock and roll had become this just be-denimed kind of, drum solo kind of thing, and what we wanted to do was bring it down to three minutes and put that Little Richard drag on top of it. And that’s what rock and roll was to us, you know. We were just trying to make rock and roll, you know.

An interesting and informative documentary on the evolution of punk. Those already steeped in the history are treated to the progenitors of the various movements discussing their experiences first hand in ways that can shed light on various points of interest while those with only basic knowledge — or perhaps none at all — get, more or less, a crash course in, arguably, some of the most culturally vital aspects of the last few decades of music.
