GOP Gubernatorial Candidates Neck And Neck

While it’s pretty much a given that Eliot Spitzer is the Democratic nominee for governor, the Republican nominee is much harder to call. According to The Empire Zone, both Bill Weld and John Faso are claiming to have 40% of delegate support at the convention, and the delegation from Nassau will be splitting its support evenly between the two. This means the two men will likely battle it out until the September primary, allowing Spitzer a good amount of lead time before he has to really take on an opponent head on.
