Conventional Wisdom

Newsweek’s weekly “Conventional Wisdom” list can often be very effective at cutting to the heart of matters. This week’s list revealingly shows no ups for any topics — Bush, Miers, DeLay, Senate, Saddam Trial, J. Miller — but perhaps most interesting is the blurb about Tom DeLay’s woes:

Puts on a happy face for his mug shot. But guess who’s moving into his district: Katrina evacuees. Gulp.

With so many people forced to relocate throughout the Gulf states — many of them permanently — it stands to reason that many of them will end up in DeLay’s district and might be more than a little upset with the governmental response to the recent hurricanes. If DeLay somehow manages to survive his current legal ordeal, will he be able to survive a surge of new angry voters in his district?
